I am applying to sponsor my husband from Italy and we are having a hard time finding someone to certify our photocopies and translations. The translations were done by an english professor at a University at a cost and now to certify these documents the judge I went to wants 16.00 euros in marca da bolla for each sheet certified..its insane!! However, I was informed by the judge that the mayor of my commune (town hall) where we live in italy can do it for free. Is this true... can the mayor of this city certify documents......please help this is the last step and I can send out this application!! Thanks Guys!!!
Who can certify copies?
Persons authorized to certify copies include the following:
In Canada:
a commissioner of oaths
a notary public
a justice of the peace
Outside Canada:
a judge
a magistrate
a notary public
an officer of a court of justice
a commissioner authorized to administer oaths in the country in which the person is living
Family members may not certify copies of your documents.

The person who translated the documents should have certified that it was a true and accurate translation of the document. You don't require a separate certification/
