Certification of Documents???

HI all

Few days are left before we send our apps.

Instructions in the Guide for the immigrant state:

Translation of documents
Any document that is not in English or French must be accompanied by:
the English or French translation; and
an affidavit from the person who completed the translation; and
a certified copy of the original document.

Do we need to certify a photocopy even though we are sending the original document with the translation?

If you send the original, no.
For example: if you send your marriage certificate, it's best not to send the original, as it might get returned. In that case, you send a certified copy + translation (from an accredited translator).
If you're sending a police certificate, then you probably have the original + the translation, no need to have a copy (although sometimes the translator will make a copy and attach the translation to it rather than attaching it to the original document).

If you are sending the original document you don't need to get it or a copy certified... since it is already the original.

However you must get the translation itself certified via the affidavit (which a proper translator should do anyways as part of translation process).
