Certificate of qualification

I have diploma in Environmental technician-2 yrs. So can I obtain 50 points for certificate of qualification criteria if I pass the operator in training test for Wastewater treatment plant operator and gain its certificate. Do I need work experience in the same field or my education is fine if I am applying under Canadian experience class (express entry) using that certificate? Your response will be appreciated. This particular certificate keeps coming up in threads here, and I'm not sure if it actually counts as a C of Q for immigration purposes.

That’s true. But there doesn’t seem to be a concrete conclusion to this query. Based on my knowledge and research, I found out that Wastewater treatment plant operator falls under Major group 92 for skilled trade and it is been in issued by Ontario Ministry and also my academic background involves studies relating to it. But because of no experience in that field and not being mentioned in Ontario trades of college, I am confused on whether should I go ahead with certificate in profile or not. I just want to avoid any trouble in future.

We've seen a few people try on this forum and IRCC has not allowed them to claim the 50 points for this certification.

Any particular reason for why they were not allowed to claim 50 points? The thing is that certificate helps me in getting a job in the field of studies. I would have understood if I had taken different program to study in college and trying to claim the points just by getting this certificate. I just want to know from people who used this thing and how did they went ahead with process of immigration if they received any queries?

The reason is because it's not regulated by the provincial College of Trades.

We haven't seen anyone successfull claim these points. IRCC has always removed the points and has said this certification doesn't qualify for the above reason.
