So, I am submitting the paperwork for my daughter's Certificate of Citizenship and the CIC website states that I can submit directly to Sydney, NS, or send it to the Consulate, as I am in New York. The processing times claim the following:
The table below shows the time required to process routine citizenship certificate applications. Processing times are based on how long it took to process 80 percent of all cases between October 1, 2011 to September 30, 2012.
"Total processing time: 6 months
Status available online
(once you receive your acknowledgment letter)
From receipt of your application to final decision
Note: If you are applying through a Canadian embassy, high commission or consulate from outside Canada, add an additional 3 to 4 months to the total processing time.
If you are applying on behalf of a minor child residing outside Canada and the application is submitted directly to the Case Processing Centre in Sydney, Nova Scotia, add an additional 6 to 8 months to the total processing time.
Now, the instructions state that I should submit to Sydney, but it sounds as though that would be the slowest route. Sounds to me like going through the Embassy would be a couple months quicker, but then all they do is look over everything and mail it on to, guess where? Sydney! So how could this be any faster.
I simply wish to mail the paperwork to the correct place, but also the one that will be quickest. UGH! Any advice!
