Hi there,


I have two questions regarding my Express Entry application. In November 2025, I will have completed 2 years of Canadian work experience, and by that time, my CRS score will be around 513. Will it be possible to claim points for this experience if it created my profile before November? In other words, if I create my Express Entry profile in September and claim points for the Canadian work experience, will this work? Just to by some time and get to extend my work permit.

My second question is: by the end of my work contract and work permit in November. I know I will be eligible for EI benefits at that time. Can I use EI benefits as proof of funds for my application?

You can create the profile today, but you won't get the points for the 2nd year of experience until October (a month before November). You would get 1-year experience right now.

The other thing is that 513 points is still low for nowadays cut-off scores. It may change later this year.

If you loose status in November, I don't think you're eligible for EI with an expired work permit.

Thanks for your answer. So do you think if I got the points in October and the score required was around my crs score, will I be able to get my work permit extended in a month?

Hard to tell, but if I were you I would be looking for an alternative instead of just relying on getting ITA from CEC.

Trying to find alternative but nothing works unfortunately. I thought of I enrolling at any of those colleges while waiting . But from what you’ve told me now I can’t get my EI if my work permit expired. So will I not be eligible for EI if I became on study permit?
