Hello All,
I have received my AOR on July 2020. I am a CEC applicant with non accompanying spouse who is already living in Canada on OWP. I choose non-accompanying spouse because my CRS score was decreasing if applied together and mentioned the same on the LoE. Her permit will expire in October 2021 along with my PGWP and my PR application processing completion date will be around January 2021 as per the CIC portal.
a) What happens to my wife's OWP if I receive the COPR? Will it become invalid? What should be the next steps?
b) Can she still stay until her OWP expires? If expired can she apply for an extension or apply for visit visa?
c) My plan was to sponsor her after securing my PR. When can I start the sponsorship application after receiving PR? If its 1 year from receiving PR, can she still stay through extending her status?
I would highly appreciate your advises. Thank you for your time and kind consideration.

Unless there is a condition in her WP stating that it becomes invalid once your WP does as well. Otherwise, her WP is valid until its expiration date.
She can stay until her status expires in Canada. Extension most likely not unless she meets the conditions for it, which I doubt. Visitor visa sure, though you being a PR then, if so, might make it very difficult for her to obtain a visitor visa as they might find her a risk of staying illegally.
You can start the sponsorship process right away, which will take between 1-2 years, if you're lucky. You must make sure you meet the sponsorship requirements (minimum income for the last 3 years and having filed taxes in Canada to prove this). As long as she has status, she can stay. If she overstays, this will surely hurt your sponsorship application. - Get ready for a lengthy process...

Thanks for the insight! I have met the sponsorship requirements already. Can you please confirm one more thing? Suppose I apply for sponsorship for her around April 2021 and it should take a year to get approved say April 2022. Her current OWP expires in October 2021. Won't she have an implied status and can still stay legally in Canada until a decision has been made? Please kindly advise. Thank you.

I am in a similar situation while trying to decide if I should keep my spouse, who is already in canada, as non-accompanying. Do you know if later, my spouse can apply for PR on her own, without me sponsering her, since she would make the cutoff on her own? (Graduates from dli in 2021) Or would I need to go through sponsorship path.

Is it possible for you to apply in 2021 together? If your PGWP is expiring soon and you've already reached the average cut off (470+) score, then I would suggest to secure your PR first. As your wife is already on study permit, seems like she won't have any issues until her study permit expires and also she can stay legally on PGWP after graduation. Then she can apply for. PR separately.
I got ITA with inland spouse as non accompanying (CEC in land), I am onPGWP and my husband is on OWP. If I add him in my file our score declines, so we decided to apply for my PR first and then sponsor him later. But now I am getting mixed review that you can not list in land spouse as non accompanying. Has any one applied with in land spouse as non accompanying and was the file success? I am really confused about it ,insights would be very appreciated. Thank you in advance

@legalfalcon I'm now a PR and I will start the process of sponsoring my wife who's in Canada with a SOWP. My question is, now that I am a PR, is her SOWP still valid until its expire date or does it become invalid as soon as I got the eCoPR?
Thanks!
