I am under CPP-O. "Your application has been transferred from the CIO to the Case Processing Pilot-Ottawa (CPP-O) office".
Timeline:
- We sent our application on January 2, 2012
- CIC received our application for permanent residence on January 6, 2012.
- We received our 1st email (Acknowledgement of Receipt) on April 16, 2012
- CIC started processing our application on May 3, 2012.
- August 29, 2012 > We got our medical forms by email.
- We did our medical exams on September 6, 2012.
Now... still waiting!!! Anyone knows what comes next? How long does it take to get any email from the CPP-O?

Often the next step is a fingerprint request (if required, not everyone gets one - it depends on how common your name is and if their are any matches in the police database).
They can also request more information (not common, they tend to deny applications rather than request additional info if they cannot make a decision) or request an interview (also not common).
If none of the above, then often it's a Passport Stamping request (essentially the sign that your application has been approved, but not final until you land).
In terms of "how long", it really varies. You can read people's timelines on this site, but processing times are individual case specific and vary wildly. The range between sending your medicals and passport requests could be as little as 1 month to well over a year (or more). For most people, it usually is a couple of months.
By Nov 6 you should get request for any further documentation needed and or for police clearance certificate. By Dec you should get request for passport. by Jan you should be a Canadian.
