hello all.

soon I will be completing my landing. I intend to take around CAD$25000 with me. the travellers are 2 adults, me and my wife, and a kid of 4 years of age.

in order to save money which is wasted in making DD, I just want to exchange the PKR into CAD$ and want to carry them in form of cash.

now I want to know the following.

1. as per Canadian law, if I m carrying more than CAD$10000 per person, I will have to declare it when entering Canada. as I will be carrying CAD$25000, will this restriction applies on me or not? is this restriction is for adults only? like for me and my wife we both can carry CAD$20000 and must not have to declare it......but what about extra 5000? will my 4 year son qualifies for this exemption? like if I show that me and my wife are carrying 10000 each and my son carrying 5000, so will it work? or we have to divide it on two persons each carrying 12500 and have to declare it?

2. I haven't found any authentic website or source on the internet that I cannot carry more than USD10000 per person from Pakistan. I have heard people saying different things.....like some say cant carry more than 5000 per person......some saying 10000.......some even saying u can carry more than that........just simply divide it and place it in different bags as u will be travelling with family so wont be a big issue. I want to know if anyone has any authentic source like any link on FIA Pakistan website or any other official source about the cash carrying limits.

It's not a big deal to declare any funds in the amount greater than C$10,000 upon arriving at the Canadian POE. One just need to fill in a form at the cashier and they would let you proceed.

1. You actually fill in the Customs form on the flight declaring that you are carrying over $10K Canadian or equivalent.

No, it's more than that.

Actually, you need to fill in another form at the cashier to declare that you are carrying over $10K Canadian or equivalent. You would have to break down and list how much in each currency (cash and bank draft) that you are bringing.

yeah right. any complications on this issue?

Just fill in forms and you are free to proceed to collect your bags.

Hello
Both questions are valid.
I'm in same situation, can anyone answer me please regarding Pakistan customs?
I know as soon as i declare that I'm carrying more than 10k, these corrupt custom people will rip me off

How do i avoid that please?

Thanks

You may want to contact the Canadian banks online and see if they would let you open an account and then wire transfer the money, you would have to explain to them that you already have your PR stamp.

You can even take million dollar. They will be glad that you bringing money and won't be a govt liability by asking no job benefit :P

Just declare to the landing custom forms the amount you taking. That's all...
