Hi all!
Caregivers who have applied under new pathway CARING FOR CHILDREN that is open since 30 November 2014, or who is just going to apply in the nearest future, let's connect here!

I'm wondering how many caregivers are really applying under this program.. CIC told that there is a cap of 2750 applications per year.. And that previous years about 4500 live-in caregivers applied under the old program (LCP) each year.

But it seems that there are not co many people... I did not manage to find any topic like this one that I created.

There was a topic where caregivers shared timelines. But it (that topic) looks like dead.. There were not any messages there for 2 months

By the way, there are some recent updates on CIC's page where we can check application processing times. Before only live-in program was available to check, but now we have 3 options: the other 2 are caring for children and high medical needs.

So CIC says that processing time in general is 2 months.

Just heard some news that CPC in Vegreville is going to be relocated to Edmonton.

The Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Case Processing Centre (CPC) in Vegreville, which employs roughly five per cent of the community, will be shut down and relocated to Edmonton.

But it seems it's just only to the end of 2018. So in the nearest 2 years it looks like there will not be any changes.

Hello Alex,i am a living care giver under children care i will be eligible for pr by march next year.but i applied for work permit extension (paper app) in sept hope to hear from them by december what about you have you applied already?if ye what did you include in your application?if no how do you intend to go about it and do we have to apply for open work permit?thanks looking forward to read from you

to apply for permanent residence under Caring for Children Class, you need this application package http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/caring-children.asp This package contains all documents that you need.

do we have to apply for open work permit?

You do not necessarily need to apply for an Open Work Permit. There are requirements to be eligible to apply. Here they are:

You may be eligible for a bridging open work permit if:

• you’re already working in Canada,
• your work permit is due to expire within four months, and
• your paper application has been found complete or has received a positive eligibility assessment under one of the following:
• • Provincial Nominee Program
  • Caring for Children Class
  • Caring for People with High Medical Needs Class

In case if you are eligible, you can apply. But since it's not necessarily, it's your decision whether to apply or not.

Can my younger sister come in child care program?
Me and my wife both have full time work, we have a baby of 10 months. I searched on cic.gc.ca but i could not find any specific thing. My sister has done BA (Hons.) in Education. Can anybody help me regarding this matter? Am I and eligible to hire her? or my sister is eligible under this program, if not then what should we have to do.

You can hire your sister as a caregiver. Old live-in caregiver program changed in November 2014. Now if you want to hire a caregiver, you have to do it on a regular basis (as just hiring a foreign worker).
