My girlfriend is an international student here in Canada.
She can't come up with funds to pay her tuition fees and she is in her 4th semester (6 total).
Assuming she can't pay, or perhaps pays for this but still doesn't have for the other two, what are the options for her staying in Canada?
Is there some possibility for her to take a year break and perhaps work during that time?
What places could provide loans for such?
I cannot accept her life here just ending like this, and while having a full time job I am in no position to even help her at this point.
If she takes a year off - she won't be able to work. She would have to change her status to visitor to be allowed to remain in Canada legally. However working would be out of the question and illegal.
If she wanted to be able to work, then she would need to first secure a full time job offer from an employer and that employer would need to obtain an approved LMIA. Once she has the job offer and approved LMIA, she could then apply for a closed work permit tied to that specific employer.
If she wants to obtain a loan, it would have to be from her home country (not from Canada).
In order to sponsor her, you would either have to get married or live together continuously for a full year first to become common law. Have you already lived together for a year? Or are you willing to get married?
