hello,
I am Canadian PR. I landed in Toronto in April’18 and came back to my home country just in one month. I didn’t apply for OIHP and now I am pregnant and want to give birth in Canada. My due is in April’19 and I wish to go to Manitoba at my relative’s place and give birth there. I read that Manitoba covers health care from day 1 for new immigrants. Since I never applied for OIHP before and stayed just for 1 month in Ontario , will I be considered as new immigrant in Manitoba? Will my pregnancy expenses covered in Manitoba health card? Do they afterwards require us to stay in Manitoba for 183 days? Pl help. Urgent!!
You actually have to settle permanently in Alberta to qualify for health coverage. Your husband can’t be working in Ontario while you give birth in Alberta and then you move back with him to Ontario.

I am the husband
We were living in Alberta the past 4 years and then returned back home 7 months ago to visit our families and I got an offer in Ontario but our Alberta health care expired
I hope this clarifies the situation.
