Hello;
I am a Canadian resident living in Toronto. I am planning to drive from NYC to Toronto by a rental car. The rental company gave me a quote for NYC-pick up and Toronto-return. However I'm not sure if there are any restrictions by Canadian law to drive a US rental car to Canada. I do not want to face any problems at the border. Can you help?

No problems. You will of course have the necessary documentation from the rental car company with you :).

Driving vehicles US->Mexico is a bit more complicated. US->Canada is fine. Just have a copy of your rental contract and ID. If the rental company has no problem with you driving the vehicle across the border, the CBSA won't either.

There is a higher than normal chance of you getting searched, so I'd suggest not trying to smuggle anything.
