Canadian Passport for American Child of former Canadian Citizen

I heard it was possible for the child of someone born in Canada to obtain a Canadian passport? Is this true? My mom was born in Ontario and I was wondering if I could apply for a Canadian passport? She has since naturalized in the United States. I am a U.S. citizen. Thanks.

If your mom was a diplomat at the time of your birth, you cannot apply for citizenship.

As your mother was a Canadian by birth (assuming not a diplomat) you can apply for proof of citizenship see: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/proof.asp
