Canadian marrying American in Canada who will return to USA without Canadian

Hi I am hoping someone can help me out with some information.

My fiance is coming up to marry me next month. He is a US citizen and will be here just for the wedding and will return to his home, without me. We will then begin to process the paperwork to bring me to the US. We have a lawyer and he advised us to get married in Canada rather than to process a k1-visa since we are pregnant (8 months to go and will likely be apart until paperwork is complete for 10 months to a year and a half according to lawyer) and supposedly the paperwork would take the same amount of time. My question and concern is regarding my fiance's entry request to marry me in Canada. He has no intentions to ever live in Canada. My plan is to remain in Canada until paperwork is finalized.

We were advised to disclose he is coming to marry me on the wedding day upon entering the country. Is this likely to be denied? Is it necessary to inform them? What if he just said he was visiting, would the ramifications effect our paperwork?

We will have our marriage license as of next week for Ontario. What steps should he take to ensure his entry to Canada for the wedding date or should we just not say anything at all and let the paperwork be processed.

a) you and your soon to be husband are both visa exempt from each other's country, therefore, if you chose to get married in the states you would not need a visa to do so. as a canadian, a k1 visa does not apply. just an fyi - i would expect an immigration lawyer to know that.

b) there is nothing special he needs to do to enter canada to get married. he has the right to visit you and he has the right to get married in canada if he wishes. the fact he has no intentions of living in canada will help make his entry easy, so will proof of ties to the us such as paystubs and proof of housing (lease/mortgage). he should not lie to cbsa. it is perfectly acceptable for him to say he's coming to canada to get married. they will ask him how long he plans to stay, he tells them, they let him in and you get married. all he needs is passport (and probably his birth certificate for your marriage license).

c) this forum is for people immigrating TO CANADA, so there will be very few people who will understand or know how the process works for immigrating to the US. you will want to find a forum specific to THAT process. they are not the same.
