Dear forum members!

I am thinking about and searching options how somebody can move his furniture’s and home stuff from home country to the city where we will land to Canada.
This will be a good option for me because of good quality and big amount of money we spend to purchase all our home stuff.

Please share information or your experience for:
• What says Canadian Law for importing your home stuff to Canada?
• If there is any fee to be paid for the things you are bringing in.
• Useful information about Removal companies worldwide that you know or have used.
• If a inventory List (A numerated and documented report of transportable goods) is needed.
• Etc, etc….

Thank you!

1. There's no law on it, except CBSA regulations permitting imports by a new settler duty free.
2. Nil, if it's listed in form-B4 while 'landing'.
3. Beware. Search, assess, seek refs and only then hire one.
4. Yes. Pls read about form-B4.

Thank you Qorax!

You are always there to help us with your experience.
Please explain what do you mean: “if it's listed in form-B4 while 'landing'.”. Normaly the home stuff will reach to Canada not in the same day with ones arrival. Usualy these stuff are trasported by sea routes inside containers.

Normaly it is very soon for me to make such arrangements, I didn’t win the dreamed visa yet, but I hope and I have a strong believe this will happen to me.

I created this topic believing that this is something usefull for many of us. Many of us had already a good life and carier till now and I thing it is usefull for us to know how to take our furnitures and our other home stuff in our new home. Also we must know many factors, so we can take all those in consideration and have a decision if this is a “Value for Money” solution.

Thanks again!

Hi Going..Canada,

There are two separate forms - B4(Accompanying goods list) and B4A (Goods to follow list)...they are different forms and needs to be filled up separately.

Dont use the B4 form for Goods to follow list....they will make you write the entire list on B4A form.

Dear Mitali,

I think that the B4A is an extension form for B4 form.
Like if someone's list is extensive they can add up items in the B4A. At least I thought that, might be wrong though.

What I did was make copies of 2 B4 forms (same), one I used as Goods Accompanying and the other there was one place where I ticked Goods to Follow.

As for the list I made MS Office Tables (Plain Pages), and entered em in the main page (B4 form) like:

1 - Electronics.
2 - Books
3 - Jewelery
4 - Linens
etc
etc

Did individual value on the MS sheet, and totaled it in the end. Then added ALL the Values Totaled em up, and wrote em in the end with hand on B4 Form. The officer asked us, what is the TOTAL value of everything that is to follow and that she entered in Comp.

All was well and got goods to list/jewelery pics stamped and entered.

O and you can use the Good to Follow list...for probably forever :)

Great info above (as always) from Qorax.

My opinion is to avoid bringing HEAVY items, like furniture, its gonna be a real pain in your back....But off course its your call mate.

Regards

Dear Devil,

If you check the link for B4, you can see that they have a box clearly designated for Goods to Follow and the form # is B4A...and then another box which asks if any Goods are to follow.

This is probably a very recent development (Mar 2012) that the IO are asking for this B4a form even though you have a B4 form that has been labelled as "Goods to follow". And Yes, you can add as many plain sheets and label them accordingly if the space is not enough on either B4 or B4a forms.

Hey Devil......sorry if I have worried you in any sense. You should be okay as you have retained a copy of the stamped list from your IO.
