Canadian husband sponsoring stepson with Down Syndrome

I'm starting to get very nervous and would appreciate any information you have to share.

My husband is a Canadian citizen. We are in the process of completing all the paperwork for my boys and me to move to Canada. My youngest son (age 11) had Down syndrome. He as had no medical issues at all. My husband has a great job and I am a teacher (finishing up a Masters degree... hoping to get a BC credential).

We are going in for our medical exams on Monday and am worried about how my son will cooperate with the doctor (He has no medical issues, but is extremely stubborn.).

I fear our application will be denied.

Any advice out there?

Since you are being sponsored through family class by your husband and your son is your dependent - he can't be denied for having DS.

However your son does need to cooperate with the doctor. While he can't be refused for having DS, completing a medical is still mandatory.

Right, he can't be refused.

The ONLY way that a family member can be inadmissible due to medical, is if they have a condition that would be contagious or pose a threat to other Canadians. I think active Tuberculosis and Syphilis are 2 of the only things that can make you inadmissible under family class, but not completely sure if there's more.
