Yes to your first question.
If you just want to apply as a cook, you'd need atleast 1560 full-time hours of work. If you already have almost 1000hrs, you'd need to work for about 5 more months.
Thanks John
I will file my paper this month then.

Your welcome! Good Luck!
Hi there,
I believe that the CIC has not updated the eligibility for skilled worker category to reflect 1 year as the minimum work ex requirement. I was wondering when calculating the 1 year work ex, do they consider stat holidays when you do get paid for but don't actually work e.g. Christmas day. Since there are quite a few stat holidays for which we get paid, I was not sure if those days are subtracted while counting the number of hours you worked.
In my specific case, I worked from Feb 23, 2012 to June 26, 2012 in one organization @ 37.5 hr/week
Then from June 27, 2012 I started working in a different organization @ 35 hr/week
I was wondering when can I be eligible to apply under CEC with the new rules in place?
Thanks for your time.

Take another look -
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/cec/apply-who.asp
There are no longer 2 streams, the requirements are the same for post grads and temporary workers.
