Hi
I live and work in Canada. I obtained my PR about 2 years ago. At the time of applying, my son did not want to be included in the application. He had his own life in London and had no intention of moving to Canada. Things change of course, and now he would like to come over. He is 25.

I’m posting here because we are trying to decide on what would be his best strategy regarding his Canadian employment.

My son is essentially self employed and he obtains his income from a mix of contract work obtained via agencies, and work that he sources himself via contacts in his industry. Is ultimate goal is to increase the proportion of his own-sourced work and eliminate the need to use agencies.

I’d be interested in hearing any opinions on how my son’s employment “model” fits into the immigration process. We obviously want to maximize his chances of his application being accepted, but my main problem is that if he simply intends to translate his model from London to Ottawa, he wont receive any credit in his application for being employed, because none of this work is classed as permanent.

Thank you

Did you intend to leave out exactly what industry/job your son actually does ?

If it helps provide a better context for my query; he does video editing and post production. A high proportion of people in this industry are wholly or partially self employed, and a lot of the work is location agnostic.

Thanks
