Hello, all.
I'm new to the forum and have a question about the Application for a Citizen Certificate for my minor child (CIT0001E). I'll try to keep this brief.
I am Canadian (married to an American) and born of parents who became naturalized Canadians, both of whom held Canadian certificate numbers.
I would like to apply for a citizenship certificate for our child and the form is fairly straightforward except for Section 8 B referring to grandparents.
My father is still alive (and has his certificate), however when my mother passed away, as per the funeral home's instructions, he relinquished all of her identification including my mother's certificate number. He was understandably not thinking clearly and didn't remember to retain a copy.
Can I still submit my application referencing only my child's parental information and that of her grandfather ONLY or do I need to see if there's a way to obtain my mother's Canadian certificate number?
If anyone has any experience or advice, I'd be really appreciative.
Thanks for reading and enjoy the rest of your day.
