Canadian Citizen wants to sponsor boyfriend from Bermuda

My boyfriend is from Bermuda and on a visa for university in Canada. I am also a university student so I don't have a bracket of income annually I just work part time.
I want to begin the sponsoring process in the next year or two but I'm unsure of the process. I want to sponsor him to Canada and eventually have him get citizenship.

Would it make more sense to get married and then sponsor him? If he applied for a PR I'm unsure how that would work since he wants to marry in Bermuda.

Or should we get the sponsoring done before getting married?

If someone could lay out some beneficial options and advice for me I'd greatly appreciate it as I know this is a process and I want to start soon.

it depends on many factors, whether you are currently living together or not etc.

I suggest you read the first post on this forum by Leon ( you don't need to read all the thread, but the first page) where it explains the different options that are there, and what you need to qualify for each.

There is no minimum income to sponsor a spouse, as long as you have a plan and you can prove that you can support yourself and your family ( through help from family if needed) then it should be OK.

We all do.

Unfortunately there's been too much fraud in the past (e.g. marriages of convienience, fraudulent application, foreigners using Canadians to get PR status). As a result, the process has become much more complex in an effort to combat these problems.
