Hello,

I am a citizen of Canada and I live in Brampton, Ontario.

My wife is currently living in Brazil.

I want to sponsor my wife to come to Canada.

Can you please tell me how I can do this and also how much time it will take to bring her to Canada.

I did a quick search and saw
that the current processing time for visa office in Brazil (city of Sao Paulo) is 14 months.

But my question is can my wife come to Canada before the application is processed?

Can she come to live with me before the 14 months, or does she have to wait until the application is approved and finalized before coming to Canada?

Please advise, thank you

S.A.

You need to follow the link below to apply for your wife's sponsorship

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/sponsor/spouse-apply-how.asp

Yes your wife can come to Canada while the application is in process by applying a TRV visa. But this will be very difficult , since you are married, there is no strong proof that she may come back to brazil after her visa expires.

The 14 months of Brazil means 80% of the applications are processed during this duration, if you are lucky enough and you have a strong proof of your relationship and filled your application complete, this duration can be shorter may be upto 5-10 months.

Thank you so much for your reply.

I live in Canada and my wife is now back in her home country of Brazil.

Can she apply for a student visa and then come to Canada?

second question:

While I am in Canada, I will sponsor her for Canadian permanent residence. During that time, if she is in the U.S. on a U.S. student visa (F-1) will that be ok?

Or does she have to remain in Brazil when I sponsor her for the Canadian permanent residence.

Yes she can apply for a student visa but it is not easy , she needs to get admitted to a university and then able to pay off her tuition which is very expensive may be around 80-100,000 for undergraduate international students depending on the faculty, plus living cost.

You can sponsor her wherever she is legally admitted to at least one year, if she is going to the US , you can apply your sponsorship it from there but you should prove to CIC that holds a one year VISA.
