Canadian bank account before landing?

I'm an American. Should I transfer money to a td border I border account enfore landing or can I show my chase bank statement as proof of funds?

You can get your statement with you from your bank in the US. It should be fine.

I advise you to open a US dollar account in a Canadian bank once you are in Canada and then transfer/wire funds from your US bank to the Canadian account in US dollars. That way you don't lose money on the exchange. All Canadian institutions have US dollar accounts.
