The number hasn't really gone by up much, but what they're proposing here is to change the way they prioritize cases. The plan now is to give greater priority to family/spouses (that's us) and refugees, while giving less priority to applicants from the economic stream. It's unlikely that we'll see any immediate changes, but I guess it's better than nothing.

That's about 5,000 more than what I read about in the newspaper a month ago (300,000) :)
