Hello,

Appreciate comment on my questions below.

I am currently eligible to apply under three categories as stated below.
0211 Engineering managers
1112 Financial and investment analysts
2132 Mechanical engineers

However I am currently working in 1112 ( financial analyst category) so ideally I should be applying under these category, however based on my research, this is a hot category and expected to be filled out pretty ( may be even before I am ready with documents). My question is: will it be convincing to apply under last one ( Mechanical Engineer) in the situation that I worked in that about 7 years ago and has made career change to finance couple of years ago. I am not sure if I will have convincing answer to why I want to go back to my engineer days.

Question 2: If I apply under 1112 ( which I prefer) and category gets filled out before my application is considered. Will the immigration office automatically consider me for second category I am eligible for ( 2132) or will reject my application as my first choice category gets filled out.

Thanks

Rajiv

Rajiv,

You have raised a very important issue and to an extent you know the answer as well.

I am not qualified here to answer your questions as an expert, may be some senior might be able to take a shot on it. However this would be possible answer to your questions as per my knowledge.

1) Yes, you can surely choose a different category as long as you can prove that you met the requirement of the job description as per your NOC category. I think you have to pass the threshold of 90% in it. Since your job as an engineer was in the last 10 years as per the FSW requirement you are ok.

2) To answered the second question as you said that what if your quota is filled for 1112, I think that will be a tough task to do for visa officer because for each application only one chance could be taken in terms of your NOC category in your application for FSW. I don't think visa officer will do an alternative assessment in this case.

The best scenario is to do a new application if your application is returned because of cap filled. But if I were you where you are standing I would rather not put any application in 1112 because by the time your application would reach CIC , NOC 1112 would surely be filled.

My friend you have to think and take your chances. I would hope any senior might be able to give you another perspective on it.

Good Luck

Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought it was possible to put several NOC's work experience down?

In other words you can effectively apply for all three NOC's, and you can even state you preference order in which you wish to be assessed in the forms.

So basically list all 3 NOCs down in the forms, and then if one NOC is full they should take a look at the other NOCs to see if they are full, as long as you can prove at least 1 year's continuous work experience on each NOC.

I seem to remember this was possible when we applied in 2010, although the forms have changed significantly since then.

Failing that if you are going to apply under a single NOC, definitely do not chose 1112 for it's looking fairly sure that NOC is already full from the apps already at CIC.

0211 and 2132 represent your best chance at falling within the cap.

Wayne.

Thanks Guys,

Appreciate your comment.

In the current application, I think they force you to choose one category.

This leads to a follow up question. Can I make multiple applications for two different categories. Not sure if I will be disqualified for multiple applications.
Thanks

Rajiv
