I am canadian PR card holder also holding a US green card , My wife is American citizen, currently i live and reside in the US. planning to visit relatives in Kitchener, so if enter and cross the border from US to Canada as a US green card "US Perm resident", would that cause a problem ?
I do maintain my status in canada and i have 3 years out of 5 to live outside canada as PR card holder, the main reason why i want to enter canada using my US green card is the fact that my canadian PR card expired.
So realy i do not know if i enter canada with my US green card , would that cause any issues ?
i am palnning to Drive from Buffalo NY to Canada, no passport just US green card and US drivers license.
It could cause issues because as a PR you are supposed to use your PR card when you enter Canada. You can apply for a PR travel document instead for your entry and when you are in Canada, apply for a new PR card.
The annual Green Card Lottery (officially known as the Diversity Visa Lottery Program) makes 50,000 diversity immigrant visas (Green Card's) available every year to persons meeting two basic eligibility requirements. Participation in the Green Card Lottery program is open for all individuals worldwide who meet these two basic entry requirements. The Green Card Lottery Program makes Green Cards available to the Lottery winners, authorizing the green card winners and their families to live, study and work in the United States of America as permanent residents.
Apply for the green card lottery by going to www.greencardlaw.us
Maybe they wont find out but you also have two other options. You can apply for a PR travel document at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/travel.asp or you can take your chances with your expired PR card, see http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/-t11876.0.html
