Hi,
I have a vaild WP for Canada till 2013 and have applied for PR under CEC.
I got through the medical requests and received the Request for Passsport today (16-Feb-12).
I am getting married on march 07 and was planning to bring my wife as a dependent on the existing work permit by first week of April.
Please suggest the procedure to add my wife to the PR Application and bring her to canada on the existing WP.
You have two choices: you can get married and bring your new wife with you (and she would then qualify for an open work permit for as long as your work permit is valid.) In that case, you will need to amend your application with CIC to include her information. She will need medicals, police clearance, etc. Your own PR will not be issued until such time as she has been confirmed as well.
Alternatively, you can get your PR visa now and land BEFORE you get married. You would then submit a spousal sponsored application for her permanent residency AFTER you get married. You will have your PR, but she will need to wait while the application is being processed.
In the end, I'd expect that an outland application will take about the same time (perhaps less) than amending your existing application.
You would contact the visa office processing your application, to notify CIC of a change in family status. They will then instruct you on how to add your wife to the application.
