I have lived in Canada since 2014. I have been a permanent resident since November but before that I had no status. My husband and I have filed all our taxes. We have two Canadian children ages 5 and 2 and we want to apply for CCB for first time.
I have some questions that I hope some of you can answer:
1.- Regarding the “Status in Canada and Income information” form, step 2A Newcomer: When is it considered that I became a resident of Canada, the day I arrived, when I received AIP or when I received CoPR?
2.- About my 2-years-old son, what evidence can I provide to show that I am primarily responsible for him if he is at home with me all the time?

If you had no status in Canada how were you able to file taxes between 2014-2019?

1. Do you mean when you became a permanent residence not a resident? If so that would be the date you landed. You may have had a virtual landing.
-If you had done a small search of the Form I mentioned, you would have seen that what they ask me, as I mentioned in the original post, is when I became a resident of Canada not PR, hence my doubt. Not virtual landing just an email of CoPR
2. Proof that your spouse works and you're not working
-Ok, but I said that I need proof that I am primarily responsible for my son not my husband’s proofs
3. Still very unclear what your status was before PR. You will get CCB from when you qualified as PRs.
-I clearly said NO status how unclear can be that?
Hello,
we are a couple of newly landed migrants (October 3rd) under EE. For some unknown reason our SIN applications have been pending for a while. We have been delaying the application for CCB for this reason.
Now i want to know, if we can apply for CCB for our children without the SIN or is it mandatory for the application.
Thanks for replying

Yes SIN number is mandatory, however you need not rush/worry about the CCB application since you will get it right from the day you landed. So usually the application processing anyway takes time and you get the first 4-5 months amount at once, which is nice.
