Can you go to US on a Candaian work permit and come back?

Hi,

I get my canadian work permit renewed each year. my permanent residency is still in process.

Can I go to Buffalo via car from Niagara and then come back to Canada by showing them my passport and work permit?

Please note, that I do not have a canadian visa on my passport ... it has expired and i don't really want to renew it.

Wondering if they will let me enter by just looking at my work permit and valid passport?

Yes, you can. Note you need a US visa.
