We have an immigrant visa (IM-1) which is valid till 27th August 2018. We are planning to travel to Toronto on 20th August for soft landing and planning to return to India on 28th August 2018 in Jet Airways which goes via Amsterdam. In this context, I have the following question.
Are we eligible to travel back post immigrant visa date? Do we need any additional documents or visa to travel back to India as we would not be having my PR card by then?
Travel back to India nothing additional from a Canadian viewpoint, but travel back to Canada you need a PRCard or a PRTD without either you cannot board a plane to come back to Canada.

Technically in order to board a plane directly to Canada you will need one of the following:
1. Canadian passport
2. USA passport
3. valid PR card
4. valid PRTD (that is if you for some reason do not have a valid PR card)
5. any other valid temporary visa (student visa, tourist visa, work visa)
6. Valid ETA (if you are from a visa exempt country)
Once you are a PR you cannot get nr. 5 or 6. But you can get 4 instead.
