Can we bring an independent translator/witness to the interview?

I’ve been wondering how to prepare for an interview if one is called for my wife.
I also recall the several posters who have reported bad experiences with nasty interviewers.
So, since my wife is allowed to have a translator on hand (for those sticky or tricky questions), could we bring our own translator -- who could serve as our independent witness if there were any inappropriate behaviour by the interviewer?

Contact the office and they will provide you with a list of approved interpreters. You can't bring your own.
But an approved interpreter won't want to jeopardize his or her standing with the embassy by testifying against a nasty interviewer.
Let me try a different tack. If the interviewer turns nasty (e.g. throwing the application on the floor in disgust, yelling at the applicant, etc -- all experiences reported by others who have been through an interview), can the applicant exit the room to ask for a witness or supervisor to attend?
Can you tape record an interview, or request the interview to be recorded? Just a question because this is available in UK immigration (and you get a copy of the tape) - not sure about Canada of course.
