Can somebody explain the process a little better

Hi all I just received an email from cic that states my application has been recieved from CIC with a UCI number and an application number that starts with a (F) attached to the email. CIC recieved it exactly 3 weeks ago today with registered mail. I am reading alot about AOR,SA, PPR and all the other acronyms. Can somebody shed some light on what stage I am at. Is it the AOR stage, SA stage? Secondly will all the documents be sent to the Bogota Visa office?

Is this the first you've heard from them?
This is most likely AOR (Aknowledgement of Receipt). The next you will hear is when your sponsor is approved. At that point the application will be sent off to Bogota. You may get another AOR from Bogota, but you will not hear from them until they either need more documents, request your passport, schedule an interview, or issue your visa.

Hi Sariss thank you for helping me. The email that was sent today was the first email I recieved from CIC. Is there an approximate timeline of when I will get the sponsorship approval for my spouse before the papers are sent to Bogota. Is that usually within weeks or months? I am sponsoring my wife to Canada under family class.

Did you apply inland or outland?

If you applied outland, sponsorship approval currently is averaging about a month.
From there, Bogota's wait times are about 17 months.

Hi Sariss, Great news today. I recieved the second email from CIC stating that I have met the eligibility requirements to sponsor my wife and step child to Canada and that the application has been transferred to Bogota for further processing. From the timeline mentioned earlier I would assume it will be a long waiting time before anymore updates are sent from the Embassy in Bogota. Would that be a good analysis? You are correct. You MAY hear from Bogota saying they got your application, but don't hold your breath for that. Now comes the long wait.
