Can I work for a WFH in the US for a Canadian company with a Canadian PR? I am on an H4 EAD.

Can I work for a WFH in the US for a Canadian company with a Canadian PR? I am thinking of doing this on an H4 EAD. Has anyone done anything like this before?
Also, if I do so would I be fulfilling/contributing time towards residency obligations? That is living in Canada 2/5 years considering I am working for a Canadian company.
Since you have work authorization in the US, you will be fine from US Immigration law perspective. However, there are tax consequences. Your employer must withhold US taxes and you must file a US tax return.

This will count as time outside of Canada. You won't be able to count it towards PR.
To count the time towards PR while living outside of Canada, you would first have to be hired for a full time role in Canada with a Canadian company. You would then have to work in that role in Canada for a while (likely 8-12 months). Then you would have to be transferred by your Canadian company to a role outside of Canada with their operations outside of Canada. Your scenario doesn't fit these requirements at all since you plan to WFH. So you won't be able to count this time towards PR.
