I`m a permanent resident and have been for the last 2 years. My Girlfriend and I are both in Canada at the moment, and have been together for a few months, the issue is her visa for canada expires at the end of Feb, and I would like to see whether there are any options for me to sponsor her?
Is anyone able to offer suggestions as to our options?
You either need to get married - or you need to live together for a full year continuously to become common law. Once you are either married or common law - you'll be able to sponsor her for PR.
Not unless she can get an LMIA (Labour Market Impact Assessment, proving someone who wants to hire her has advertised for months, and cannot find a Canadian who can do the job).
An LMIA will be practically impossible, since very few jobs there are 'skilled', and they can easily be done by the vast workforce of citizens, PRs, and people already holding work permits. She would need to do something extremely specialized somewhere like that (whereas in contrast, a small town in rural SK would be less impossible, due to the dearth of people willing to go there).
