This isn't true unrestricted sponsorship however... Unless I have missed something, the applicant still has to be a skilled worker in their own right, with a reasonable chance of economic success.

Each province has different rules, which change fairly often. Usually the person who wants to sponsor a relative or friend as a provincial nominee has to have lived in the province for a year. Which province do you live in?
