Can I re enter Canada with my valid student visa and a work permit?

Hi,

I am just wondering, I have already gotten my open work permit, valid from sep 2018-2021 sep.
My student permit expired in July 2018, however my multiple-entry student visa is still valid till 2022, same expiry date as my passport.
I am wondering if I were to leave Canada and come back, can I use my student visa to enter since its still valid or do i have to apply for a work visa?
I have checked on the cic website but nothing is clear, it seems like they don't specify what type of visa you need. It just says visa.
Please let me know if I have to re-apply for a work visa or student visa works as well.

What do you mean student visa ? You mean you have a multiple entry TRV and a work permit ?

I have a visa that says on it "multiple entry" and " S1 student" as the type of visa.

Your TRV is valid until it expires. You don't need a new one.

It doesn't matter that it says "S1 student" even tho I no longer holds a valid student permit? I can use it with my work permit till it expires?

It doesn't matter. A TRV is a TRV.

And i could re enter canada no problem with it? and just renew before it expires to change it to a work visa?

Apply for a new TRV if you would like it to be changed to W-1.

however S1 works as well for re entering? I can just re apply when before this expires for a W1?
