I have the below questions about PR immigration visa and landing. Hopefully, seniors in this forum can assist.
1) Immigration visa - As a principal applicant, can I take my passport and spouse's passport to Buffalo to get them stamped? Do they still have "same day service" at Buffalo?
2) Landing - As a principal applicant, can I finish my landing first and let my spouse do the landing later? We have a situation where my spouse cannot accompany me during landing. Please advise.
They no longer offer "same-day non-immigrant" services but getting your passport stamped is actually immigrant services. So yes, you can still get your immigrant visa stamped on the same day. You can confirm with the call centre. See below:
"Effective May 7, 2012, the Canadian visa offices in Buffalo and Detroit will no longer offer same-day non-immigrant services. Applicants for Temporary Resident Visas, Study Permits, Work Permits, Temporary Resident Permits, and Permanent Resident Travel Documents must submit applications by mail only."
Note that the Consulate in Buffalo will be closing down and all services transferred to the New York office. So check to be sure that you can still go to Buffalo for passport stamping.
option 1:
if you and your wife both have US visa... you can get the one time landing visa stamped at buffalo in the morning and complete the landing while returning... whole process can be completed within same day...all within 3 to 4 hrs.... be sure to check buffalo consulate still allows public...
option 2:
if your wife doesnt have the US visa... you can first get the one time landing visa ( for u and ur wife) and land together by pedestrain bridge in niagara falls ( rainbow bridge) in the same day/ next day ( flagpole landing process without having US visa)....
