I recently got a COPR and need to visit Canada to apply for PR card at Border Services Agency. Unfortunately, I have important commitments at my home country due to which I will have to return soon. Can I give my friend's address for mailing PR card?. Can my friend send the PR card through courier or Can he carry it while coming to my home country? I read from several forums that the PR card is now RFID enabled and it can be easily detected at customs and can be seized. Is it true.?
Would be great if someone could give clarity on this issue.
There are so many posts on this forum on this subject !
It is fairly normal for new immigrants on a short landing to give a friend or relatives address for the card to be mailed to.
Your friend can either mail or courier the card to you in your home country as it is not illegal to do so and no reason at least on the Canada end for it to be seized by customs. Impossible to predict if any issues with a receiving country.
Your friend can alternatively bring the card to you when they visit your home country.
