I am currently on a temporary worker visa (post-diploma covid extension) until mid-to-late 2024. I applied for PR and have reason to believe I might get accepted in the coming months.
Let's say I stay overseas for a month during that time, and get accepted through PR while I am outside Canada. Would that revoke my previous status, and does that mean that if I don' t have the PR card on hand I don' t have a valid title to enter Canada again?

Once you are a PR, that previous history doesn't matter. You'll either enter Canada on a COPR if you haven't landed already or you would enter on a PR card or PRTD afterwards.
However I would recommend avoiding falling out of status in Canada if you have a PR application in progress. If you are applying under an economic stream, your status in Canada needs to be valid. So either change your status to visitor (if you can't extend your work permit) or leave Canada or something like that. Avoid being out of status to create no risks for your PR application while it's being processed.

You need to inform IRCC if out of Canada. IRCC generally also checks to see if you are in Canada because virtual landing should only happen if you are in Canada. If abroad you don’t qualify for virtual landing and would need to submit your passport and receive a COPR and then have to land in Canada to become a PR.
