Can I enter canada later in the semester?

I am awaiting a decision regarding my post grad work permit. I finished my program ahead of time and have 7 months left on my study permit. I have been taking extra classes while I wait. I was told by our international student office that I must wait take classes while i wait . The cic told me this is not true. I wish to travel for a month and heal(something serious happened and cannot continue on withering these extra studies as I must recover). If I try to re-enter canada whilst having a valid study permit but done with classes and waiting for a post grad work permit in the middle of febuary; what happens? I am a US citizen but my mother is canadian (I am mot) would it help if she were traveling with me on returning to canada?

If you have applied for PGWP you are on implied working permit status and dont have to study anymore. According to IRCC you should be good to re-enter especially being an American as long as you have valid eTA, don't think mothers nationality will mater.
