Can I convert my student visa to spousal visa?

My girlfriend and Me both are on study permit. She is studying diploma in UCW. We are planning to marry here in Canada. After marrying, Can I convert my student visa to spousal open work permit visa or Do I have to wait for my study to complete? Anyone who has done this before please let me know. Your reply would be highly appreciated. Thankyou

open work permits will only be accessible to spouses of international students enrolled in master's and doctoral programs. Unfortunately, spouses of students in other levels of study, including undergraduate and college programs, will no longer be eligible for this benefit.

Rule is applied to all applications starting January 22, when the policy took effect. Not sure though if you can effectively argue that spouse already have SP. Others may have a different opinion.
