Can i be out of canada more than 6 months without loosing my PR?? !!HELPPP !!

Please HELPPP, i heard that if u out of canada more than 6 months u can loose ur PR. i came to my country to visit on February, but i need to stay till September !! (7 months ) cuz i'm getting an Operation !! i don't know what to do ???? am i gonna be in trouble ? can they remove my PR ? should i ask for a special permition ? or go back one week to re open my dates ??? Pleaseee Helppppp !!!

1. The 6 months is the old rule prior to june/2002.
2. The present rule is that you must reside in Canada for 2 years in every 5 year period.
