I am currently an international undergraduate student in Computer Science at University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada. I will graduate in August 2021 and will apply for my Post-Graduation Work Permit subsequently. I eventually plan to immigrate to Canada via Express Entry program (Canadian Experience Class) by obtaining eligible Canadian Work Experience of at least 1 year.
I recently received an offer from an American startup for a Software Engineering role. They are allowing me to work remotely from Canada through a Canadian Employer of Record (aka Professional Employer Organization). Thus, I will receive Canadian Payroll deposited in a Canadian Bank Account along with Canadian Tax Deductions paid to CRA.
So, can I count this employment as an eligible Canadian Work Experience when I apply for Permanent Residence via Express Entry in the future? This information will be a crucial factor in my decision to join the aforementioned American employer.

There's a decent chance IRCC will classify this as foreign work experience and say it cannot be counted towards CEC. However also some chance they might miss the details and an application under CEC might be successful.
There isn't a clear answer regarding what will happen. By the rules, this is foreign work experience. The employer isn't Canadian.

Hi
Is it possible to send the change? I am in a similar situation right now.
An American company, no entity, the business will be in Canada, but they are not eager to create an entity before making a good contract with a Canadian Client.

To be eligible to apply for Canadian Experience Class (CEC), you must have gained your work experience in Canada as a temporary worker (having LMIA based or LMIA exempt work permit). If you meet this criteria, you can definitely apply for PR under CEC after 1 year.
Did you apply? What happened?
What happened to your application? Was it approved?
