I live in Canada and am not applying from outside Canada. Can I still apply "Outland"? I have read that this is the safest way for us to go, considering my husband is from the USA and is only here as a visitor. He is staying with me in the mini-home we purchased but if he is ever denied a visitor extension or has to return home to the USA, that could impact the immigration process for us if we go "Inland".
So, my question is: Can I apply "Outland" even if I am living in Canada?
Sponsored Persons, Item 4 - how do I specify inland or outland? This is the part of the application where you specify if you are applying inland vs outland.
If the Applicant is living inside of Canada and wants to apply as an inland applicant, then you must check the first box, "I am currently living in Canada with my sponsor, and I am applying under the Spouse or Common-Law Partner In Canada Class." Specify whether or not you are including an application for a work permit with your application.
If the Applicant is living outside of Canada, then you must check second box, "I am currently living outside of Canada, and I am applying under the Family Class."
If the Applicant is living inside of Canada and still wants to be processed through the outland process, then you must check the third box, "I am currently living in Canada, and I am applying under the Family Class (not under the Spouse or Common-Law Partner in Canada Class). I understand that I may be convoked to attend an interview at a visa office outside Canada."

Maybe I have an outdated version of the application because I cannot find that anywhere. Is there a new Spousal Sponsorship application available online now? I did read that there was a newer, easier application but I do not know if that is what I have.
I just re-read your reply and see that it must be on the checklist. I will look for that now. Thank you for your assistance. It is greatly appreciated and I am so happy that I can talk here with others who are familiar with this process.

Make sure you are using the correct forms and that the ones you are using are the most up to date version. All forms are "date stamped" at the bottom..reference that against the forms you need to use list.
