Can I apply for the entry visa with a vistor permit?

Hi, I was working under a open work permit. After the permit expired, I applied for vistor permit and got that already. It will expire in August. Can I apply for an entry visa now? I need to go to States next month and I had a valid US visa.

Also, I had applied for Permanent resident.

Also, my wife is a PR. Any chance if she writes some papers?

As you have valid status in Canada and only going to the US or St. Pierre et Miquelon, you don't require a new TRV if you re-enter Canada before your visitor permit expires in August.
