Can I apply for BOWP while on study permit?

Hi guys,

I am in a tricky situation at this moment. I am applying for my PR and currently don't have a valid work permit but am a holder of a student visa. My student visa expires in February 2021, however, I am eligible to work 40 hours when between semesters. I will have to go on 20 hours a week starting in September as this is when the next semester starts again. My question is: Can I still apply for BOWP by being a holder of a student permit so that I can continue working 40 hours until my PR application is finalized? Thank you in advance!

No - you cannot.

You must be holding a valid work permit to qualify for a BOWP.
