Hello everyone,

I thought I could apply for a employer-specific work permit within Canada while I am a visitor here. However, when I used the online tool to check my eligibility, it showed that “I am not eligible to apply for PR...” I am confused because I selected the purpose of staying in Canada as “Work temporarily- more than 6 months “ instead of “permanently “. It was so awkward.

So then I checked if there is other ways to apply. I found that it’s also ok to apply for an employer-specific work permit at the border. My prospective employer will apply for LMIA soon.

1. After getting a positive LMIA, can I bring the LMIA number, work permit application, professional certificates, medical certificate, and $150 to apply a work permit at the border? It is a skilled job with a high payment.

2. Should I also apply for PR first and bring my PR application/ AOR with me?
