Can an applicant leave Canada during the pr process?

Hi,

I am sponsoring my spouse for pr.

I have submitted the application.

Can my wife leave Canada during the process?

what happens if she does?

would it delay the process?

Applicants in Canada can apply both inland and Outland. Different classes. You need to confirm which checkbox she marked on her application

That's known as inland. She is supposed to remain in Canada residing with you. Beyond that I am not an expert.

Does she plan to leave for long or a short trip?

Plans to go back to her country for 2 months. But i just found out that i should have applied under family class since she does not have a valid immigration status.. i messed it up.. i would get my application back right? Or do i need to withdrawal my application?

What did you meant by valid immigration status? Isn't she is having a temporary work visa or visitor visa?
And I guess you have applied through inland spousal sponsorship program?

At this point I no longer know enough details on the program or your situation. If she's out of status and applied inland and leaves the country, I think you'd have to start over, but again, not sure I know.

I just called IRCC and was told the application under spouse in canada class is okay as long as her visitor status is valid.

I am confused. Does she has/need a visitor visa? (some countries do not) Does she has a multiple entry visitor visa to come back?
If you applied inland, it's not a good idea to leave for a long period of time. If she is refused entry to Canada, the application will be cancelled.
Any valid status will "work" for spousal/family sponsorship. (actually inland applicants could stay without status but still have the risk of deportation but unlikely)

yes she has a valid visitor status. I didnt know any valid stutus will "work" for spousal sponsorship and this is where i was worried.
