He is a very good friend of mine. Can he sponsor me?
Or I need some family relative, who is some how related to me??

I've heard that there are some changes to that rule but I'm not so sure.

No - a friend cannot sponsor you. Only a family member (relative) can sponsor you.

Hi

Yes a friend/distant relative can sponsor you if he/she is living there since last 1 year. You have to apply via mail called as "General Stream". Its duration is a bit longer than priority streams but hopefully you'll be able to get LOA(Letter of Approval) within 1 year.
