I was wondering, do you think it has a delaying effect on your file being processed, or no effect at all?
How long did it take from ordering to receiving?
I requested my notes 4 weeks ago today. The check has not been cashed and I haven't received anything back from them. I have been told it does not affect your application either way.
If you only order the notes, it doesn't delay processing. If, under "Request For", you check the box for "in Canada file" or for "overseas visa file" - it will result in copies of all your forms and evidences, etc., being sent to you - and that will delay processing because they will have to pull the file and copy it. If you only request the CAIPS notes (or FOSS notes for an inland ap) alone, it's just a print out of the computerized notes they make while assessing the application and that won't delay anything.
It can take about six weeks to get the computer notes back.

I am here in Canada on Visitor Visa. I ordered my CAIPS notes by faxing in the request to their office. It was suggested on another thread. I have not received them yet, it's been about 3 weeks. I will keep everyone posted as to whether or not this approach works.

My husband requested his notes while he was visiting me in Canada. It doesn't cost anything that way (Privacy Act option instead of Access to Information) but took about 6-7 weeks (we mailed it in about a week or so before Christmas).
