Hi there,

As per the BC PNP Entrepreneur Immigration Program Guide (PDF) one to be eligible to apply needs to have more than three years of experience as an active business owner-manager.

They specify that an active owner-manager (business ownership of 10 per cent or more) is a person who have performed an active role in the management and operations of a COMPANY for which he has held 10 per cent or more ownership during the past 10 years.

Now the question is whether active business owner-manager constitutes a person who doesn't own a company per se but owns a business, more specifically he owns a website from which he personally generates substantial revenues over the last 10 years? Basically he is sort of self-employed freelancer and he is responsible for a day-to-day management of his own website which entails coding, design, search engine optimization, marketing, etc.

In short, does being a self-employed counts the same as being active owner-manager of a company? Of course the self-employment over the years can be verified through the tax-returns, bank statements, invoices, etc.
